And the Children Shall Lead

While watching our preschool programming this morning, the channel ran a promo that states, “wouldn’t it be nice if life were more like pre-school?”
It would.
I would like to share some lessons from preschool. They are simple rules that could easily improve any workplace.
- “Please” and “thank you” go a long way.
- Honesty is (still) the best policy.
- Teamwork is essential. [what’s gonna work, teamwork! -sang to the WonderPets tune- my fellow moms out there get it.]
- Share.
- Don’t run with scissors.
- Treat others as you wish to be treated.
- Wash your hands after you go to the bathroom.
- Everyone is unique and special.
Remember, everything you need to know you learned in preschool.

It definitely would be nice. Oooh, and clean up time! That goes for kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas.

This reminds me of the “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” essay that was circulating for a while. (From a book of essays by Robert Fulghum published in 1986) My favorite lesson was “Live a balanced life – Learn some and think some And draw and paint and sing and dance And play and work everyday some.” Sounds like prescription for work-life balance to me.
