Oprah Guest to Speak at the Joining Forces for Women Veterans Summit
The October 21, Summit is sponsored by Business and Professional Women’s (BPW) Foundation with support from the McCormick Foundation and Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust (DAV). It is designed to educate policy makers and business leaders on the unique needs of women veterans and to work together to develop collaborative solutions. The Summit is the beginning of a long term commitment to establishing resources for women veterans in their communities through public/private partnerships.
Winfrey’s spotlight on women veterans comes on the heels of a speech by Michelle Obama that urged leaders to hire veterans. “It is energizing to see that leaders like Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama are highlighting the distinct challenges that our women veterans are facing when they return home. Our Summit aims to take the next step and foster dialogue that will provide resources and solutions driven by strategic public/private partnerships,” commented BPW Foundation CEO Deborah Frett.
On the agenda are several top-level White House and Administration officials, as well as business leaders and women veterans. Confirmed speakers include:
